LITTLE GODS

It's so nice to be at home, and for once, just be. Chill out as young people say. I think I sit down at my rocking chair now. Here you can relax, and ponder the ways of the world in all peace. Yes, an acquaintance paid a visit to us the other day, and brought some booklets with him. He was so exited about his new find. He had found new, powerful teaching, teaching called the word of faith, so powerful he said, that the old fachioned concept of the Bible should be thrown in the trash. It was hard work to make him leave. He was really so exited, and talked like a real chatterbox. Finally we made it when we put all our mental strength into the extreme. Huh huh.

I read those booklets after the work. Well, I did read them quickly, and I did find out the message of those writers, too. It was so strange and the text so haughty. So big words were used, but how little was the god that was revealed behind those big words. One dared to claim that the redemption on the cross wasn't enough. Jesus had to die also spiritually, and be born again in the hell. The writer claimed arrogantly that any born again man could have redeemed mankind on the cross. The other one claimed that in the new birth we're elevated to the class of gods, in the matter of facts, the same class with the Lord. Dogs beget dogs, cat beget cats, God begets gods etc. When I read those words, a passage of the Holy Book crossed my mind. Someone else had, in ancient times, similar thoughts in his heart. I think I read that passage again. Wait a minute, where was it. Yes, here: "How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit." (Isaiah 14:12-15)

This happens when you don't submit yourself to the authority of Christ but, instead you're feeding your carnal mind. Oh my, how the flesh can be so pious and godly. Downright it's seeking its way to the spotlights that everybody could see, and bow down before 'His Excellence and the Anointed One'. Enlightened citizens aren't bluffed by these windbags, much less their Lord. A tree is known by its fruits: " No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of." (Luke 6:43-45) Surely Jesus will say the same words He told to the Pharisees of His time: " No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of." (Luke 11:39-41) After this kind of treatment, even the tongue that can boast about so big things, can be cleansed and healed.

I think that neither in heaven nor on earth there's place for other gods, big ones or little ones. The Lord will ask once again of those arrogant, orgulous egos: "With whom will you compare me or count me equal? To whom will you liken me that we may be compared?" (Isaiah 46:5) We mortals have to admit that we are made Gods image only. My son filmed once a vacation trip with his new video camera. It was so nice to watch it afterwards. Even this old man was so relaxed and living. Not even once it crossed my mind that the old man was real me. It's true that through the promises of the Bible we can become partakers of the divine nature: "His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires." (2. Peter 1:3-4)

I think I'm going to heat my sauna up now. Those booklets are excellent kindlings. That's the all value they have. Now I must, with all vigor and patience, warn the fans of those gods that they shouldn't face the same destiny as the son of the dawn and his little gods. And now it's time to heat up sauna. I wonder, whether my old lady would come again and wash my back...

With partaking greetings
J. P.
